Ms. Mary Scicluna

Mary Scicluna began her career in the Public Service in 2000 as a School Secretary. In 2007, she transitioned to the Ministry of Health, serving as Registrar of the Medical Council until 2009. She then became EU Funds Manager up until 2013. Ms. Scicluna joined the Ministry of Education in 2013 as a Service Manager, focusing on enhancing service quality for students. Her leadership skills led to her appointment as Director for Human Resources in 2015, where she oversaw staff performance and contributed to strategic planning and reform initiatives until 2023.

Currently, Ms. Scicluna is the Director General for the People Management Department, where she manages four directorates: Resourcing, Education Resources, Scholarships, and Students Maintenance Grants. Ms. Scicluna is implementing initiatives to improve educators’ well-being as part of the National Educational Strategy Framework 2024–2030. She has also represented the Ministry in international meetings, including those organized by the European Academy in Berlin. Additionally, she serves as the Ambassador of Malta to the Republic of North Macedonia, highlighting her commitment to international collaboration.

Under her leadership, the People Management Division conducts bi-annual surveys to assess and improve educators’ working conditions and professional development, ensuring continuous growth and enhanced job satisfaction.
