As from January 2017, single parents’ students who are a pursuing full-time studies at Post-Secondary, Vocational and Tertiary level of education may benefit from a Single Parent’s Grant provided that they are in receipt of Social Assistance.
When applying for stipends and grants, applicants are required to tick yes to the question:
“Are you a single parent in receipt of Social Assistance?”.
Such applicants must also upload a scanned copy of their child(ren) Birth Certificate(s).
Students wishing to communicate with the Students’ Maintenance Grants’ Unit regarding this benefit may do so by sending an email through the online application using the “Contact Us” button. All emails are directed to the attention of the Students’ Maintenance Grants’ Board.
The Single Parents’ Grants is issued in a staggered process. This additional annual grant as established by the Subsidiary Legislation 605.06 is given as one lump sum to eligible students in during the Second Semester.
The Students’ Maintenance Grants’ Board reserves the right to verify the information submitted and request additional information and/or documentation if necessary.
